The NC-S 120 STH series performances are comparable to those of higher series. Both the Montreal and Europa models feature reinforced posts for better stability. Moreover, systems can feature lift-sliding windows. Like all METRA's system series, Montreal and Europa feature interchangeable frame and panel profiles. Frames can be assembled at 45° or 90°, using both 45° assembly panels with glazing bead or 90° assembly panels with inserted glass. This feature gives extreme flexibility to the system.
The thickness of the panels (from 45 mm) allows the use of several kinds of glass, up to 30-32 mm thick: doors and windows safety layer glass; burglar-proof glass; and high acoustic and thermal performance glass. The NC–S 120 STH is available with 6 kinds of reinforced poles that can be used to create panels almost as big as those of the NC-S 150 STH series.
The system has been tested for the following performances:
MONTREAL SERIES:
- Air permeability. Test method: UNI EN 1026; Standard: UNI EN 12207, with Class 3 or Class 4;
- Water tightness. Test method: UNI EN 1027; Standard: UNI EN 12208, with Class 7A or Class 8A;
- Wind tightness: Test method: UNI EN 12211; Standard: UNI EN 12210, with Class A3.
Moreover, the Montreal series with 2 panels sliding on 2 ways (BxH 2804 x 2304 mm) was tested according to the AAMA / WDMA / CSA101 / 1.5.2 / A 440-08 standards.
EUROPA SERIES:
- Air permeability. Test method: UNI EN 1026; Standard: UNI EN 12207, with Class 3 or Class 4;
- Water tightness. Test method: UNI EN 1027; Standard: UNI EN 12208, with Class 8A;
- Wind tightness: Test method: UNI EN 12211; Standard: UNI EN 12210, with Class A3.
The systems have been tested for thermal insulation performances, obtaining UF values between 3.3 and 5.6 W/m2K.
The Montreal series has been tested for acoustic insulation (sample BxH 2400x2400). The 2 sliding panels and the 1 sliding panel with fixed mirror versions obtained 41db value with a 42 dB glass, and a 42 dB value with a 45 dB glass.
The Europa series has been tested for acoustic insulation (sample BxH 2400x2400). The lift-sliding version obtained a 38 dB value with a 42 dB glass, and a 37 dB value with a 45 dB glass, while the sliding version obtained a 39 dB value with a 42 dB glass, and a value of 40 dB with a 45 dB glass.
Compared to the sliding series available on the European market, the Montreal series is a unique product: it was developed for the North-American market and has several distinguishing features especially for its look and the way it is inserted in the wall. If no panel is installed, the panel sliding slots can be closed in order to give a cleaner look. A glass can also be inserted in the slot, integrating a fixed mirror to the frame. Moreover, the frame can be inserted in the floor or in the wall, so that the window is at the exact same level of the floor/wall. Both lines can feature a fixed mirror directly installed on the frame in order to save money and enhance thermal and acoustic insulation performances.
