METRA associates its name with architecture as an instrument of peace thanks to a book called “La Pietra e la Pace” (Stone and Peace). The volume was presented on September 30th at the Mondadori Multicenter book store of Milan, on the occasion of the 2010 edition of the “Il Ponte” awarding ceremony (won by Giuseppe Guzzetti), on the tenth anniversary of the European foundation Guido Venosta. Several important personalities of the Italian cultural scene, as for instance Gillo Dorfles and Salvatore Veca, took part in the ceremony. “La Pietra e la Pace”, published by Electa, collects the opinions of architecture experts on the relationship between architecture and peace and applies them to the new Milan that is under way for Expo 2015. The text is accompanied by photographs by Carla de Benedetti, taken mainly on construction sites where METRA products have been used.
